Monsoon Magic: When Central Indian Forests Transform

While most wildlife destinations close during monsoon months, Greetoe Wildlife Resort
invites you to witness the extraordinary transformation of central Indian jungles during
the rainy season.
From June through September, our properties in Panna and Kanha offer specialized
monsoon experiences. Watch as parched landscapes erupt with vibrant life – termite
wings catching afternoon light as they emerge en masse, frogs emerging from estivation
to fill the night with melodious choruses, and mushrooms in shapes and colors defying
imagination pushing through the forest floor overnight.
The Ken River in Panna becomes a thundering spectacle, perfect for our exclusive
riverside picnics under the shelter of centuries-old banyan trees. In Kanha, seasonal
waterfalls hidden deep in valleys become accessible through our guided treks, revealing
microhabitats rich with endemic flora.
Wildlife viewing during monsoons offers unique advantages: lush grasses attract
herbivores in unprecedented numbers, predator tracks remain clearly visible in soft soil,
and reduced tourism pressure means animals behave more naturally.
Our specially designed monsoon vehicles navigate forest tracks safely, while our lodges
offer covered viewing decks where guests enjoy the dramatic skies and rejuvenating
energy of India’s most magical season.
